Located in the Martinez Marina, we welcome new and experienced paddlers of all skill levels and backgrounds to join us.

Please join us at our season kickoff meeting, Saturday, March 18, at 10 am (Market & Main, Martinez) and come to our first open/novice practice on Saturday, March 25, 9 am (contact us for more information, including location and what to bring).

Programs & Schedule

Open Program

Competitive, experienced outrigger canoe paddlers. If you’re new to our team, please fill out our contact form and we’ll be in touch with more info! 

  • Age requirements: 20 years and older
  • Practice dates and times:
    • Tuesdays/Thursdays at 6 pm
    • Saturdays at 10 am
  • Racing: Open paddlers will have the option to race at applicable NCOCA races. Race readiness will be gauged by coaches.
  • Cost: 
    • Individual: $250/year
    • Family Rate: $400/year (2 adults and any children, 19 and under, in the same household)

Novice Program

New to outrigger and curious to try it? We’re excited to meet you! Please fill out our contact form and we’ll be in touch with what you’ll need to wear, bring, and know! 

  • Age requirements: 20 years and older
  • Practice dates and times:
    • Tuesdays/Thursdays at 6 pm
    • Saturdays at 8:30 am
  • Racing: Novice paddlers will have the option to race at applicable NCOCA races. Race readiness will be gauged by coaches.
  • Cost:
    • Individual: $250/year
    • Family Rate: $400/year (2 adults and any children, 19 and under, in the same household)

Keiki (Youth) Program

Sport and activity are essential to promoting the mental, physical, and emotional health of our community’s Keiki! As part of our team, Keiki will learn how to be part of a positive team environment while enjoying the sun and water. Please fill out our contact form and we’ll be in touch with info and answers to any of your questions.

  • Age requirements: In junior high/between 12-19 years old, and able to reach the water while in a seated position.
  • Safety: Keiki will be required to wear Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) while in canoes, which can be supplied by GSOCC. Coaches are certified in CPR.
  • Practice dates and times:
    • Keiki practice season starts May 4
    • Tuesdays/Thursdays at 4 pm
    • Saturdays at 8:30 am
  • Racing: Keiki will have the option to race at applicable NCOCA races. Race readiness will be gauged by coaches.
  • Cost: 
    • $40/year, or FREE with a paid adult (parent/guardian) membership

Please do not show up for practice without reaching out to us! – This is to ensure that all of the proper health & safety protocols can be communicated, and so that we can ensure that we have seats available for all paddlers. Additionally, paddlers are asked to show up at least 15 minutes before the practice start time to allow for us to prepare to get on the water.

Practice times are subject to change, due to scheduled races or unsafe weather conditions.
