About

Golden State Outrigger Canoe Center (GSOCC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) devoted to fostering amateur paddle sports and giving back to the local community and environment. We are a membership of community-minded stewards who cultivate a spirit of Aloha on land and water.

GSOCC was established in 2018, as part of the Northern California Outrigger Canoe Association (NCOCA).

Our mission:

To preserve, promote and perpetuate outrigger canoe paddling and competition internationally, nationally, and in the California Bay area.

To provide instruction, training, and coaching designed to develop paddler athletes who exemplify good sportsmanship and skill while participating in organized outrigger canoe racing events sanctioned by the Northern California Outrigger Canoe Association, Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association in Hawaii, the Southern California Outrigger Association, and the International Va’a Federation, among others.

To become an asset and active participant in our community of Contra Costa County and nearby cities through enhancement and utilization of our local Carquinez waterways, promoting neighborhood businesses, and providing an alternative team sport for our local youth.

On Saturday, April 27th, 2019 our canoes were welcomed into our Ohana with a ceremonial blessing.
